Welcome to

Villa Puri Balangan

Perched on a clifftop overlooking the beautiful Bukit peninsula, the vast Indian Ocean and Bali’s stunning western shores, the fully-staffed four-bedroom Villa Puri Balangan boasts some of the most spectacular vistas on the island. With its traditional joglo-style architecture, sumptuous ocean-view ensuite bedrooms and stylishly designed open-air living areas, this is a dazzling home for families or a group of friends wanting to explore this alluring corner of Bali. Its gorgeous infinity pool, sloped tropical gardens and incredible panoramas make this villa a wonderfully photogenic venue for weddings, anniversaries or other special occasions.

Villa Puri Balangan’s manager has plenty of information about all the places of interest in the area and can arrange transport or make bookings for you. In fact, many of the villa staff live locally and if you’re interested they’ll be happy to give you some useful insights into many aspects of Bali life.

Here’s a quick overview of some of the varied activities on offer within easy reach of the villa.

  • The Garuda Wisnu Cultural Park – also known as GWK – boasts the second tallest statue in the world and promises a great day out for the whole family. Standing at 120 metres tall, the sculpture of Hindy Lord Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda – Indonesia’s national symbol – is almost 30 meters higher than the Statue of Liberty. Located in an old sandstone quarry, the park’s unusual rock formations are reminisicent of the 2009 Avatar science fiction movie.
  • Surrounded on all sides by impressive sandstone cliffs, Balangan Beach’s beautiful white sands, crystal-clear waters and reef-break surf make it a very popular spot for sun-worshippers, wedding photographers and surfers alike.
  • Golf enthusiasts will love the tournament standard New Kuta Golf Club which features a well-manicured 18-hole course with breath-taking views of the ocean. Since its grand reopening in 2014, it has single-handedly put Bali on the map as an international golf destination.
  • Perched on top of a dramatic sea cliff is the awe-inspiring Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Considered one of Bali’s most sacred temples, it is home to throngs of mischievous monkeys who’ve made a reputation for themselves for stealing unsuspecting visitors’ wares only to trade them back for food. Best arrive at sunset for incredible views and stay a little longer to catch the traditional Kecak Ramayana and Fire Dance – a real crowd pleaser.
  • The famous surf beach at Uluwatu gives visitors an opportunity to witness world-class surfing in a picturesque setting. Venture down to the beach through an ancient cave or watch Uluwatu’s world-famous waves rolling in from one of the cliff-top restaurants and bars. Our personal favourite, Single Fin is a lively multi-tiered restaurant and bar with panoramic vistas and delicious pub-style food and drink. Especially on Sundays this is very popular hangout for a young and trendy surfer crowd.
  • El Kabron Spanish Restaurant & Cliff Club is magnificently located on a clifftop 50 metres above sea level in Uluwatu. From its humble beginnings as a small casual bar, it has developed into one of Bali’s most popular beach clubs and dining spots – offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean and serving a variety of Spanish dishes with delicious cocktails and wines to match.
  • At the western head of the Bukit Peninsula is Bali’s seafood hub, Jimbaran. Its immense wet market allows visitors to pick from a wide range of freshly caught seafood, which can then be grilled to perfection at any of the numerous beachside restaurants. You can choose alfresco dining on tables made from colourful old fishing boats or reserve a seat at one of the many resort hotels for a five-star dining experience.
  • Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should hot-foot it down to Seminyak – Bali’s most cosmopolitan enclave – and indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, chic boutiques. There’s a wide choice of restaurants in Seminyak, including fine dining at Sarong, Ku Dé Ta, Mama San, La Lucciola, MerahPutih, Sardine or Métis.
  • Villa Puri Balangan is just over one hour’s drive from Tanah Lot. Along with Puru Luhur Uluwatu it is one of Bali’s most important sea temples and a very popular tourist attraction. You can expect a lot of people and camera phones if you visit during sunset, especially during peak holiday season. We advise visiting early in the morning (8-9am) when there are less people and you’ll have a much better chance to really experience the power of this sacred place.

    Location & Distances

Villa Puri Balangan is located on top of a steep hill and can be accessed from the main road via a private gang. Unlike other parts of Bali, this area of the Bukit remains relatively unspoiled, allowing you to fully appreciate the views accompanied only by the ambient sounds of nature.

Despite its quiet location, Villa Puri Balangan is only a short drive from the Bukit’s best bars, restaurants and beach clubs. The Mexican-themed La Pasion and the quirky Like At Home pizza restaurant offer great lunchtime options, and if you’re looking for a picture-perfect evening cocktail we suggest visiting Rock Bar. Literally on the edge of a cliff, this iconic beach bar allows you to experience luscious sunset drinks while waves crash below your feet.

For a slick evening-out you can choose from a variety of glamourous beach clubs on the peninsula, including El Kabron, Omnia, Karma Kandara and Ulu Cliffhouse. Regularly scheduling top-class international DJ-acts, they have firmly put the Bukit on the map as a cool and glitzy location.
